Support Arvind Kejriwal

Dr. C.V. Raman's 125th Birthday

Happy Birthday to Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, it would be annoying if I give you his introduction. Wouldn't it be? :P Venkata Raman was born in ThiruvanaikavalTrichinopolyMadras Presidency, in British IndiaAt an early age, Raman moved to the city of Visakhapatnam, Madras Presidency (now in Andhra Pradesh), and studied in St. Aloysius Anglo-Indian High School. Raman passed his matriculation examination at the age of 11 and he passed his F.A. examination (equivalent to today's Intermediate exam) with a scholarship at the age of 13.In 1902, Raman joined Presidency College in Madras which was the best of its kind that time, where his father now was a lecturer in mathematics and physics .[6] In 1904 he passed hisB.A. (Bachelor of Arts) examination - he stood first and won the gold medal in physics. In 1907 he gained his M.A. (Master of Arts) degree with the highest distinctions. Raman got all sorts of offers from various places all over the world & could have chose them as they would offer him lots of money, but he wanted to work for his country & joined  Indian Institute of Science. Brilliant from childhood, Raman did wonders at the Institute & did a lot of research there. Raman retired from the Indian Institute of Science in 1944 and established the Raman Research Institute in Bangalore, Karnataka a year later. He served as its director and remained active there until his death in 1970, in Bangalore, at the age of 82. Raman was honoured with a large number of honorary doctorates and memberships of scientific societies. But the most well known out of them was the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930 for the discovery that when light traverses a transparent material, some of the deflected light changes in wavelength. This phenomenon is now called Raman scattering and is the result of the Raman effectRaman was the paternal uncle of Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar, who later won the Nobel Prize in Physics (1983) for his discovery of the Chandrasekhar limit in 1931 and for his subsequent work on the nuclear reactions necessary for stellar evolution. His greatness doesn't need any proof & the fact that India celebrates National Science Day on 28 February of every year to commemorate the discovery of the Raman effect in 1928 tells the whole story. C.V. Raman was the greatest  Indian physicist whose work was influential in the growth of science. He was known as the Indian Einstein & is respected all over the world. Google has made a doodle today for his 125th birthday & he will be remembered till Science lasts.

HAPPY DIWALI

Sorry... I know I am really late but you guys know Family is always there... So first of all a very Happy Diwali to all of you. This is a poem written by me. I observed the whole day and this is what I thought. I know its festival time & this poem will be a bit serious but please bear with me. Though its a Hindi poem but I am writing it here in English so that you all can understand. Here you go....
Diwali ki dhoom machi hai,                                                                                                               Hum sabne ek kahani rachi hai,
Diwali hinduo ka tyohar hai,                                                                                                             Ye hum sab ka kaisa vyavhar hai?
Sochiye agar koi khane-peene ki dukan,                                                                                         Ya fir naya-purana makan,                                                                                                                 Kisi jaati ya dharm ka ho jayega?                                                                                                     To kya aapko ye bhayega?
Agar koi relgadi (train) ka naam kisi jaati ke naam par kar diya jayega,                                         To desh me sampradayikta ( Even I don't know the translation!!) ke alava aur reh hi kya jayega?
Humare adhikaro (Rights) par to hum bohot gaur karte hai,                                                         To fir dharm aur tyoharo ke naam par kyu bat te (separate) hai?
Tyoharo se desh ki ekta (not Kapoor!! :P) badti hai,                                                                         Varna janta aapas me jhagadti hai
Aur hum nahi jhagadenge, hai na?
Ye shayad thoda zyada ho gaya na? :P
Shubh Deepawali everyone, have a safe & mast festival, once again sorry for being late!!

WE'LL MISS THE LEGEND

Prabodh Chandra Dey, better known by his stage name Manna Dey was one of the best playback singers of our country.  A man who sang in more than 4000 songs between 1942-2013. He gave his voice for many of the evergreens of Indian Cinema.  He became nationally famous after release of Do Bigha Zamin in 1953 where two of the songs sung by him and composed by Salil Choudhury became hits. Salil Choudhury worked with Dey right from 1953 to 1992 in Hindi films and made Dey sing even in Bengali and Malayalam films right from late 1950s to early 1990s. His association with Shankar-Jaikishan and producer Raj Kapoor had begun while working for Awara, but their combination became famous while working together for Boot Polish in 1954 and the trio worked in many films together from 1954-1971 whose musical scores were appreciated, irrespective of its box-office fate, like Shree 420Chori ChoriMera Naam Joker. Kishore Kumar and Manna Dey had recorded only 6 songs together till 1968 and all proved to be hits, some of them being Tubhi Piya Chikara Hoon and Tu Jaam Liye Jaa from Bewakoof (1960), Babu Samjho Ishaare from Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958) all 3 composed by S.D.Burman and Baheta Pani Baheta Jaye from Dhaake Ke Malamaal composed by C.Ramachandra, Joyo Joyo Mere Lal composed by S.K.Pal in 1952 and their frist duet together - Subaho Ki Paheli Kiran in 1951 from Anadholan . In1968 R.D.Burman brought them together for Ek Chatur Naar song in Padosan. Reportedly the song 'Ek Chatur Naar' (a duet by Kishore Kumar and Manna Dey) from Padosan(1965) was partly improvised by Kishore Kumar at the time of recording and Manna Dey, determined to show Kishore Kumar how he would sing the duet better (since Kishore had not been trained classically), got into the mood of the song and immortalised 'Ek Chatur Naar' and though Manna Dey was disappointed that he looses to Kishore on-screen for the song at the time of film’s release but soon they became good friends again by 1970 and later in an interview in 1987 said with the kind of variety of songs – folk, pop, western and classical based songs sung by Kishore Kumar from 1968 to 1987, he was definitely greater than Dey himself and at par with Rafi and Mukesh. In the days of M. Rafi & Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey made his own fame & became the first choice of music directors. . The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 1971, the Padma Bhushan in 2005 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2007.
On 24 October 2013, he was admitted to the ICU in a Bengaluru hospital after a chest infection gave rise to other complications. On 9 June 2013, there were reports of his death, but the doctors put the rumours to rest by confirming that he was still alive and his situation was stable but critical, as the infection had led to other complications. On 9 July 2013, it was reported that his health was recovering and that doctors took him off ventilator support on the afternoon of 5 July. He died of a cardiac arrest at 3:50 AM on 24 October 2013 at Narayana Hrudayalaya. At the age of 94, he seemed to be still young and was as energetic has his young days. He was a true legend & I cannot say anything else about him. But, one thing is definitely sure that he was one of the best singers our country has produced & there won't be any other singer like him in future as well. Though, we all belong to the new generation yet, we know him & his songs & really liked his voice alot. This was his popularity & respect. We'll miss him & whenever classic music maestros of Indian music will be talked about, this one name will be taken with due respect. His songs will be remembered till our memories last & he'll have a special place in our hearts. R.I.P Manna Dey Sir....

DUSSERA

Dussera, is not only a festival where we burn the statues of Demon Lord Ravana or the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana, but it’s the festival in which we should burn the evils & bads  of the society along with Ravana’s statues.

We the people of India are known to have high morals and dignity & are famous for it world- wide. But, the modern lifestyle has led to declination of morals & has degraded the society. We often criticize the Western culture & their living & usually comment about their clothes etc. but the Delhi gang rape case has revealed the Ravana in the minds of our youngsters & has shown that wearing any type of clothes doesn’t make a difference to the Ravana in our minds. We talk about robberies in foreign countries but the chain snatching from even old women has been an eye- opener as to how deep this Ravana has affected our thinking & our morals. I am not afraid to say that I too am a part of such a society. We don’t realize the need to change the way we think about the society.

At the end I would say, that the height of Ravana’s statue is increasing every year so is his impact on our society & our thinking. There was a movie dialogue which said- “We burn Ravana every year because we know he never dies”. Unfortunately, this is true, not for the statues, but for the Ravana prevailing in our thoughts. And as our beloved Baapu said-“Be the change you want to see in the society”. Because, you all can change the world. This Dussera, kill the Ravana in your minds & this country will be a better place.

#JAI HIND  #HAPPY DUSSERA to all of you

TWO E'STATES' OF OUR NATION

At this very moment, 71 years ago, was born a kid to a great poet of Hindi Literature, Mr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan. This child was named Amitabh. Amitabh Shrivastava (their original surname if you didn’t know!!) was from beginning interested in movies & theatre. His first movie was ‘Saat Hindustani’ but it couldn’t establish him in the industry. His first Blockbuster was ‘Zanjeer’ (1973). This role made him the ‘Angry Young Man’ and since then, he did not look back. Sholay, Mukkaddar Ka Sikandar, Deewar, Trishul & many more super hits followed which made Amit ji the next Superstar of B’Town. His recent ones include Satyagrah, Paa, Aarakhsan which have given him the title of Star of The Millennium. There is no prestigious award this man hasn’t received & he is still working to entertain us. KBC has been a revolutionary television show & Big B has been the main reason. He is the true legend & I wish you a really Happy B’day Sir.

Sachin Sir has the record of hitting the first double century in ODIs & our Little Master Blaster is the only man to hit Century of Centuries. He is close to another record of playing 200 tests, but yesterday, he announced his retirement from the game after the last 2 matches. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE TWO GREAT PEOPLE WHO MADE THIS COUNTRY

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi....
Personally I don't have the status to say anything about the father of our nation, a man who has set the standards of greatness and yet no one can match his level. He is known as the most successful non- violent leader of the world. What he did for this country cannot be expressed in words & the love of the people for him could be seen when Gandhiji lead & the whole country followed. This was his place & respect in the hearts of the people of his country. Not only in our country, but all over the world, this one name is taken with great respect. Baapu is & always will be the greatest activist & leader of this country. But, it is sad that he was neither given any award nor any post. It will always be regretted that the man who deserved all of them couldn't get it.
Another great man who was born today is our second Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Shastri was not just another P.M., but he changed the way people looked at our country. His slogan of 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisan' was enough to guess his courage and he was known to develop our country in a way no one else could. Shastriji was a real tiger of our country.
I know that you guys are really busy and you cannot read this all everyday but please take 5 mins out and read this to understand what these people did to change our country the way it is today and their struggle for freedom, the freedom which we enjoy everyday....
Happy Birthday to the person who actually was responsible for making this country & the man who shaped the future of this country.... There is someone else who has his birthday today... My dad, I am sorry, you guys might not be interested to know this but all the people whom I mentioned above have contributed equally in my life... Once again a Happy Birthday to all of them...
Its my first post over here... I am a bit late posting this because my internet connection wasn't working... sorry for that... And I know you guys are very co-operative... I need your support... So keep supporting & enjoy reading
